XO.thai is the second restaurant created by the owners of the well-known and popular Ryż restaurant. This time, they chose the Wrzeszcz district and the famous Wajdeloty Street as their location, which is a „gastro hub” in Gdańsk. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the tenement house and occupies a very small area. The task of the architect, Ela Sawicka, was to make the most of this space and reflect the atmosphere of Asian street food. The main point of this project is therefore a large counter, the walls of which are decorated with tiles arranged vertically. Above it, there’s a ceiling made of corrugated steel sheet – this is a direct reference to catering booths, often found on the streets in Thailand. The interior is kept in very warm colors, limited to various shades of terracotta and salmon pink, broken here and there with accents of cobalt blue. Photographing it required a lot of gymnastics (due to the small area), but the final photos fully reflect the cozy atmosphere of this place. Pay XO.thai a visit while spending time in Tri-City!
